There are so many yoga postures and movements that are accessible and effective. It is just a matter of finding a class that works for you! The Accessible Yoga Series offers approachable yoga techniques that will help you increase functional movement and decrease tension in your body. 

 

This three-week series is for those that are new to yoga, have limited movement practices due to inactivity, and anyone that is looking to commit to their health and wellness. Join Michael for classes on Mondays and Thursdays at 6am across three consecutive weeks. All of the classes will be virtual, so you can practice from the comfort of your own home.

 

The Accessible Yoga series will help you develop a healthy routine to create more stability and freedom in your body. Dedicate three weeks to rediscovering your health and the potential of your body.

 

The Accessible Yoga series is for you if:

  • You’re seeking help with joint care, stress reduction, and injury prevention.

  • You desire to improve the quality of your breathing and enhance the focus of your mind.

  • You want to spend moments in your week to release tension and get centered.

  • You’re excited to connect with a community of diverse and dedicated individuals.

 

Logistics:

  • Join SIX livestream sessions spanning across THREE consecutive weeks

  • Each session will involve breath work, accessible movements both active and restorative, and time for community connection. Please see the list of props that you will need below.

  • Connect via Zoom a few minutes before 6am Pacific Time. Each livestream will be 45 minutes followed by an optional 5-10 minutes to connect and ask questions afterwards!

  • If you are unable to attend the livestreams or wish to revisit the content, we will send you a recording of the class after each session (available for 72 hours).

September 28th & October 1st, 5th, 8th, 12th, 15th (Monday & Thursdays)

Accessible Yoga: Three-Week Series

These classes have been designed to meet the needs of a diverse audience. Here is an outline of what you will need and what to expect. Please review the information below to see if this type of class is a good fit for you. 

 

Here are the main positions:

  • Seated (option to be in a chair or on the ground)

  • Standing 

  • Table Top pose (hands & knees on the ground)

  • Reclined

 

Here are key movements:

  • Getting up and down from the ground 

  • Hip flexion, extension, & rotation

  • Spinal flexion, extension, lateral bending, & axial rotation

  • Shoulder flexion, extension, & rotation

  • Balancing (option to use a wall or other prop for balancing assistance) 

 

Here is a list of props you will use:

  • Yoga mat

  • Chair or stool that has a back (firmer seat and no arms, if possible)

  • Two yoga blocks

  • Yoga strap (a belt or a towel are good alternatives)

  • Pillows or cushions for your knees and/or for your head when reclined
